To showcase the latest developments in Hong Kong’s performing arts sector, HKPAX presents a series of programmes from cutting-edge dance to traditional xiqu, playful drama to exquisite orchestral music and cross-disciplinary productions by the city’s major performing arts groups, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and West Kowloon Cultural District.

HKPAX aims to promote cultural exchange and develop collaborative projects organically. For this inaugural edition, we partner with international arts organisations, bringing you an exciting lineup of co-creation programmes. These programmes showcase captivating cross-cultural and cultural exchange performances featuring both local talents and international artists. At the same time, we feature an array of signature programmes performed both by Hong Kong’s well-established artists and emerging stars.

Professional troupes from around the world gather in Hong Kong to grace our major stages with breathtaking performances. These works, selected through a global call covering drama, dance, music, Chinese Opera (xiqu)  and multidisciplinary arts, are staged in 10 venues of different sizes and vibes in Hong Kong, bringing unique experiences to all!

An effective pitch can open a whole world of business opportunities and potential partners. Whether it’s an original creative project requiring additional funds or a groundbreaking experiment looking for a venue or presenter, exciting new ideas emerge in these sessions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum Auditorium.

How can we better equip ourselves for the future, seize opportunities and embrace challenges on a global scale? HKPAX invites key arts and cultural leaders, producers and artists to share their insights and opinions on the current arts scene in the setting of dynamic Hong Kong. Immerse yourself in a thought-provoking series of conversations, including Forums, Leadership Talks and Artists’ Sharing sessions. These discussions delve into the most pressing and relevant topics in the art world, serving as a platform to explore the latest trends, innovative approaches and transformative ideas that shape our cultural landscape. Exhibitors display their playfully spirited ideas promoting arts practitioners, venues and festivals. Under the marquee on the beautiful lawn of West Kowloon’s Art Park, arts professionals introduce their exciting productions and pitch new projects to potential supporters and audiences. From day to night, everyone can enjoy the sights and sounds of Hong Kong’s harbourfront.

• Holders of the HKPAX Full Pass, Day Pass and Student Pass can access the Exhibition.

A platform is dedicated to local, small and medium-sized performing arts groups and individual arts practitioners to showcase their talents, connecting them with HKPAX international participants. These sessions highlight Hong Kong’s unique culture and diversity characterised by the fusion of Chinese heritage and Western culture. They are presented over four consecutive days at the West Kowloon Cultural District Arts Pavilion. More details to be announced soon!

HKPAX’s cultural offerings provide participants rare opportunities to immerse themselves in first-hand experiences, soaking up unique Asian cultural ambience and traditions, nurturing both body and soul. More details to be announced soon!

An optional tour to Shenzhen and Guangzhou, two of China’s biggest hotbeds of performing arts culture, provides another great opportunity for HKPAX participants to explore cultural exchange. All transportation, accommodation and scheduling, as well as meetings with local artists and administrators will be arranged. More details to be announced soon!

Numerous performing arts activities presented by Hong Kong’s arts and cultural sector take place during HKPAX. We encourage international participants to experience and explore Hong Kong’s vibrant and diverse artistic offerings, and to learn more about the city’s many fine organisations and institutions.
