The ancient Chinese calendar categorises different times of the year into 24 Solar Terms according to the sun’s motion. The Wheel of Time - Woe of the Seasons is a journey of the seasons as portrayed in the Solar Terms. Conceived by Yan Huichang, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for Life, the HKCO commissioned Ng King Pan, composer, and Cheung Kit Bong, director of the Chinese Music for Traditional Festivals MV series, to transform the Solar Terms into a fascinating musical experience via Chinese orchestral music and arts technology. Under the baton of Yan Huichang, live projections of the performance of the HKCO and close-ups of vibrating strings under macro lens are shown on an on-site big screen to express the Wheel of Time.
