MAB MAK
Mab Mak previously worked in the arts and design industry and later pursued culinary studies. She is an apprentice of Chef Ben Lam, who is one of Hong Kong’s Top 10 Chefs and famous for his use of cognac. Mab graduated from the Ecole Ritz Escoffier in France with a diploma in culinary arts. She was awarded a Level 5 Certificate of Training in French Cuisine recognised by the Ministère de l’Éducation nationale et de la Jeunesse (The Ministry of National Education and Youth). Later, she also qualified to be a lecturer of Japanese Wagashi.
She is now a professional member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a member of the Disciples Escoffier, and an event officer of its Hong Kong branch. She is committed to promoting the chef's profession and the culture of healthy eating and hopes to incorporate theories of art and design knowledge into cooking. She has been actively involved in food and beverage-related work as a guest chef for TV food and beverage programmes, recipe designer for newspapers and magazines, food stylist, cookery demonstrator, and video filmmaker for various brands.
Mab is an experienced culinary tutor who has taught at various cooking centres and schools. She is also open to collaborating with different social welfare organisations to guide young people in exploring career opportunities. Additionally, she has co-organised successful STEAM courses with the Hong Kong Science Museum. In recent years, Mab became a mother to a son and has dedicated herself to researching recipes for complementary foods for infants and toddlers. She also encourages her child to engage in food education from a young age.
- The workshop will be conducted in English.
- All necessary equipment and ingredients will be provided, aprons will also be available for participants to wear. At the end of the workshop, participants will take home a box of homemade mooncakes that they crafted during the session.
