With the kind participation of students and faculty members from the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, you will be welcomed by energy-surging drumming. Follow the energetic drumbeats and awaken your inner spirits in this locally inspired ice-breaking activity. A “speed-dating” game follows, connecting you with like-minded fellow participants, industry partners, artists, international presenters and producers as you build valuable relationships. Ada YK WONG JP

In her varied career as solicitor, educator, social innovator and entrepreneur, Ada Wong has remained a staunch advocate of creative education, cultural development and social innovation. After founding the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC) in 1998—and later the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity in 2006—Wong has specialised in cross-sector innovations with global vision, also founding such nonprofit organisations as the Make A Difference Institute (to nurture young creative changemakers) and Good Lab Foundation (a social innovation consultancy). She is also Chair of Ednovators, an organisation for education innovation.

An elected member of the Urban Council and Wan Chai District Council from 1995 to 2008 (the last four years as Chair of the Wan Chai District, she is an Honorary Fellow of Lingnan University, Hong Kong Education University and the Hong Kong Baptist University and has been guest lecturer at universities and speaker at international conferences.

Pat To Yan

Pat To Yan

Active in Hong Kong and German theatre, Pat To Yan is a playwright, director, educator, Acting Principal of HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, Artistic Director of Reframe Theatre, House Author of Germany Nationaltheater Mannheim (2021‒2022) and former elected council member and chairman of the committee of Literary Art of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (2019‒2022).

Yan holds degrees from the University of Hong Kong (BA, English Literature), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (MA, Sociology) and Royal Holloway College, University of London (MA, Playwriting).

His English-language play A Concise History of Future China was included among the five presentations at the Berliner Festspiele Theatertreffen Stückemarkt 2016, the first ethnic Chinese play ever selected. His Cantonese play White Blaze of the Morning was awarded Best Play at the 8th Hong Kong Theatre Libre. Seven of his plays have been translated and performed in German.

Jennifer Dautermann

Founding Director, Classical:NEXT

Jennifer Dautermann

A classical music major with a minor in studio photography, Jennifer Dautermann soon branched beyond performance and photography into a two-decade career as an arts manager, consultant, strategist and arts platform architect. From her early days in Germany, when the American-born, Berlin-based cultural entrepreneur launched her C3 Festival, a showcase for contemporary music mixing new composition with electronica at Berlin’s renowned Berghain Club, Dautermann went on to launch Classical:NEXT, a global conference uniting all sectors of the art-music ecosystem in nearly 50 countries to find a way forward for the artform. More recently, she initiated Art in Action (ArlA), an international festival and conference empowering art music for positive change, and has served as an international advisor for the inaugural Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo. A native English speaker also fluent in German, she currently divides her time between Berlin and Calgary. Details at www.jenniferdautermann.com.
