Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo Returns in October 2026
Global Open Call for International Showcases and Pitching Works Now Underway

 

[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 1 September 2025, Hong Kong] uilding on the success of the inaugural Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) in 2024, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) today announced the return of the second edition of HKPAX in October 2026 (“HKPAX 2026”). Global call for applications from artists and arts organisations worldwide to take part in the International Showcases and Pitching Works programmes also opens today.

Sponsored by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, and organised by HKADC, HKPAX is a flagship platform for cultural exchange and collaboration. Through featuring groundbreaking performances and a series of professional networking activities, HKPAX fosters meaningful dialogue and interaction among global arts institutions and practitioners. The inaugural Expo featured over 1,600 arts leaders and practitioners from a wide span of 60 regions and countries and attracted over 32,000 attendees and audiences.

The HKPAX 2026 will take place from 9 to 13 October 2026.Arts professionals across the globe will showcase their work to international audiences, exchange ideas with their counterparts, explore collaborations, identify the latest industry trends, and experience the diverse cultures of China, including Hong Kong, and Asia and beyond. Through the showcase of performances and cultural experiences during HKPAX, local and international audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy the Hong Kong’s unique culture and vibrant performing arts scene, while public programmes will be organised to encourage city-wide participation.

HKPAX 2026: A Platform for Global Partnerships and Growth in the Arts
HKPAX 2026 will feature a thoughtfully curated programme spanning multiple strands, including International Showcases, Pitching Works, Hong Kong Chapter, Conversations, Exhibition, Networking Events, Expo Programmes, among other activities. These programmes altogether invite global arts professionals to explore, experience, and exchange, fostering partnerships and creating synergic opportunities that strengthen the performing arts sector in Hong Kong and enrich the global performing arts scene.

An array of events will be held across a variety of venues with diverse styles and capacities. These include the soon-to-be-officially opened East Kowloon Cultural Centre, the iconic Hong Kong City Hall and Hong Kong Cultural Centre, heritage spaces such as the Hong Kong Fringe Club and Tai Kwun, as well as the Tea House Theatre in West Kowloon Cultural District, a contemporary venue with a unique Chinese cultural character and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, a prominent institution with venues equipped to international standards.

Global Open Call Closes on 12 October 2025 (HKT)
The open call for International Showcases and Pitching Works is now underway and will close on 12 October 2025, Hong Kong time. Selected artists and arts organisations for the International Showcases will have the valuable opportunity to present their full-length performances to both local and international audiences in Hong Kong’s major performance venues. Those chosen for Pitching Works will introduce their work-in-progress or established works to presenters, producers, agents, curators, and other arts professionals worldwide, gaining global exposure and exploring collaboration and touring opportunities.

Applications are now open at the official HKPAX website (https://www.hkpax.org.hk), with full application guidelines and timeline details available. Programme highlights and ticketing information will be announced in April 2026.
