Synopsis

A healing pursuit of equanimity and elegance

Inspired by the idea of dynamic equilibrium in Asian philosophy, MEDITA gently takes you into a space of meditation, where energy flows in perfect balance between power and softness, intensity and warmth. Through steady, ambient music and Modern Table's intuitive dance movements, MEDITA offers a moment of healing through relaxing the entire body.

MEDITA premiered in 2024 and won the Korea Dance Critics Awards "Work of the Year" Award.

About the Artist

Modern Table Dance Company

A contemporary dance company that embodies "music you can see, dance you can hear", Modern Table captivates audiences with intuitive, visually striking movements that need no explanation. Their performances feature singing dancers and dissolve the boundaries between stage and audience, creating a truly multisensory experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Led by Artistic Director Jaeduk Kim, Modern Table is a corps of powerful male dancers with extraordinary talent in blending dynamic, high-energy choreography, live music, and the refined lines of traditional Korean aesthetics, with a modern twist. Driven by its bold imagination and experimental artistry, the company has built an international presence over the last 20 years, earning the distinction of becoming the first Korean dance company invited to the prestigious Chekhov International Theatre Festival in Russia.

The company has toured more than 50 cities worldwide, including recent shows at The Place Theatre in London, the Chalon Dans la Rue Festival in France, the ULICA Festival in Poland, the Sziget Festival in Hungary, and Internationale Tanzmesse in Germany. Signature works include Darkness Poomba, Sok-do (Velocity), Ham:beth, Breathing Attack I, II, Sinawi, Men of Steel, and others.
